Statement of Purpose
Having served as an administrator at five diverse academic institutions and as an officer or president in at least six different academic and professional organizations over more than 26 years in academia, I am confident I have the background, experience, and expertise to continue to serve ICSB as the Senior Vice-President, Finance & Control. This position has primary responsibility for the organization’s budget, accounting, financial analyses, projections, and articles of incorporation and By-Laws, all of which I have been responsible for in other positions and in the last year in this leadership role for ICSB.
My involvement in ICSB began in 1997 as a paper presenter at the ICSB Annual Conference in San Francisco. Although a member from the mid-1990s to present, I learned more about ICSB’s role in promoting the growth and development of small businesses worldwide in my years as a board member and eventually president of the affiliate group, the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship. In 2012-2013, in my role as the Senior Vice-President, Finance & Control, I have gained invaluable knowledge on ICSB’s financial and general operations. Having continuity in this officer position will only lead to positive results for ICSB.
ICSB has grown and flourished in recent years, and as a result, the future is bright. No other organization brings together educators, researchers, policy makers, and practitioners from around the world to benefit small and entrepreneurial businesses as ICSB does. For the organization to continue to thrive and prosper, competent leaders are needed, and I believe I am such an individual to make a difference for ICSB!
